As the application deadline of 22nd December is fast approaching for the Launchpool Web3 Techstars Accelerator program being run from April-June 2022 in Ireland, the local Techstars team have been busy engaging and sharing insights with the global Web3 community.
Pete Townsend, who’s leading the program, recently published his ‘Web3 Investment Thesis‘ with a look inside the two converging paths of the Web3 program, and also the types of Web3 teams and projects that Techstars are looking for.
With this program, Techstars will be working with entrepreneurs building blockchain technology and tokenisation protocols driving towards our decentralised future. This is Techstars’ first chain-agnostic program, so they will be working with teams building on multiple blockchain protocols. The program team consider crypto, DeFi, NFTs, and blockchain itself as just building blocks of the next frontier where money meets the metaverse, and anticipate that most (if not all) participants are designing their value proposition with a token at the cor
All Techstars accelerators are mentorship-led programs, and the Launchpool Web3 Techstars program is onboarding some of the leading minds in Web3 as mentors, such as Michelle Tsing (Berkeley Blockchain), Matthew Graham (Sino Global Capital) and John Wu (Avalanche), in addition to another 90+ experts from around the world. Beyond the opportunity for Web3 teams to exponentialise their networks and learnings from these world-class mentors, the program will feature a funding pot of up to $240k combined between Techstars’ and Launchpool’s investments, along with the ‘Techstars for Life’ commitment and millions of euro worth of perks.
The curriculum combines traditional tech accelerator disciplines with Web3 specifics such as tokenomics and community building and participants will have direct access to the Launchpool team and their ‘ecosystem maximalism’ approach. Hugh McGirr, is joining Pete Townsend on the program as Investment Associate, and there are currently two open roles in marketing and operations that will preferably be filled locally.
