Join us on Thursday 23 January from 10:00 to hear from the European Blockchain Sandbox introducing the goals and structure of the initiative, sharing some key highlights from previous cohorts, and to share information about applying to the Sandbox for prospective applicants for the third cohort.

The pan-European Blockchain Regulatory Sandbox for innovative use cases involving Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) is an initiative of the European Commission. The aim of the project is to provide a framework for regulators, supervising authorities and blockchain innovators to engage in regulatory dialogue, identify obstacles from a legal and regulatory perspective in a safe and confidential environment, and thus increase legal certainty for innovative decentralised technology solutions, including blockchain. The Sandbox will allow regulators and supervisors to enhance their knowledge of cutting edge blockchain technologies.

The pan-European sandbox is set up and operated by a consortium of legal experts from Bird & Bird and its consulting arm OXYGY, supported by blockchain experts Warren Brandeis (formerly WBNoDE) and by the web-designers Spindox, with use case selection verified by a panel of independent academics consisting of Professor Roman Beck (IT-University, Copenhagen), Professor Soulla Louca (University of Nicosia, Cyprus) and Professor Walter Blocher (Universities of Kassel).

The speakers, hosted by Blockchain Ireland’s Events and Comms Working Group co-chair, Paul Hearns, are:

  • Marjolein Geus, Sandbox team leader, Partner at Bird & Bird
  • Miriam Lyons, Sandbox team member, Consultant at OXYGY

There will also be a facilitated Q&A for the audience to address the speakers directly, as well as updates on the experience an progress of previous applicants.

Registration is free but required. Click here to register.
