The European Commission defines Sustainable Finance as “the process of taking environmental, social & governance (ESG) considerations into account when making investment decisions in the financial sector, leading to more long-term investments in sustainable economic activities & projects.”

BlockW & The Bigger Pie are delighted to present this partnership event during Blockchain Ireland Week 2021.

We will discuss real world projects with Founders, Investors & Advisors – those doing the work – in the field harnessing blockchain & a variety of crypto protocols, digital assets, as well as other emerging tech to fundamentally change how finance is traced, collected & distributed amongst SMEs in emerging & developed economies, the unbanked & underbanked, through P2P networks.

Digitisation is the foundation of inclusion into our evolving networked & interconnected lives from agriculture to healthcare to financial services. We have watched innovation leapfrog regions over time.

Mobile technology now covers 70% of the world’s population & rising! It has enabled developing countries to “LEAPFROG” the fixed-line technology of the 20th century and move straight to the mobile technology of the 21st.

  • Asia jumped straight to mobile devices over adopting desktops
  • Africa was a pioneer of mobile & telephone banking in the 90’s & 00’s & now has the opportunity to leapfrog in various areas of digitisation including blockchain & crypto. MPESA has connected hundreds of thousands of Africans to the financial system.
  • Europe’s strategic agenda 2019 – 2024 states that “Digitalisation as Key for a Sustainable Europe.”
